Avery Sunshine
Avery Sunshine combines R&B, soul gospel and jazz in the style that is his own. Sunshine has performed everywhere from Broadway up to The Democratic National Convention to the European scene of clubs and festivals. Sunshine has the name Denise White. Although she is based in Atlanta, her roots are in Chester Pennsylvania. There she started to pursue a musical career as a singer and pianist in a church. She attended Spellman College in Atlanta where she started her musical apprenticeship on the city's R&B scene. The Fighting Temptations The first single to feature her vocals was called Stalk You which was a house 12-inch released exclusively in Japan and has been remixed since by many producers and remains a staple of her live set. Her voice was also added to the soundtrack of The Fighting Temptations. She was appointed as the main keyboardist of Tyler Perry's musical Meet the Browns in 2005. Jennifer Holliday (a Grammy and Tony Award-winning singer) offered her an opportunity to be the choir conductor for Dreamgirls in Atlanta during the National Black Arts Festival. Sunshine rose to prominence during the four daily performances of 2008 Democratic National Convention. Sunshine was later invited to sing during Barack Obama's Inauguration in 2009.
